DROP THE MIC IS BACK! 

The fifth annual invitational public speaking competition, hosted by Bloom-Carroll FFA, allows students to prepare for upcoming FFA speaking contests while earning awards and gift card prizes. All proceeds from the event will be donated.

Drop the Mic includes Creed, Beginning Prepared, Advanced Prepared and Extemporaneous speaking events. Ohio Career Development Public Speaking rules will be followed for each event. (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0Bw_wVWIIHeMGQi0yUWhkcWNRMWc?resourcekey=0-nM9uCDa4bEzNkYeScXB1wA)  The preliminaries will take place on Zoom but the finals will be IN PERSON at Bloom-Carroll High School. Each chapter can enter up to 3 students per event. After the preliminaries, the top 10 contestants within each contest will move on to the in-person contest. 

The first round for Creed & Extemporaneous will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, Jan. 6th beginning at 3:30 pm.  The first round for Beginning & Advanced Prepared will be held via Zoom on Wednesday, Jan. 7th beginning at 3:30 pm.  Announcement of the finalists will be made on Thursday, January 8th. Score sheets and any judges comments will be shared with FFA advisors of all participants. The finals will be held IN PERSON at Bloom-Carroll High School on Saturday, Jan. 10th at 10 am. Score sheets will be returned and feedback from the judges will be available for all finalists.

If you don't know who your speakers are yet, go ahead and reserve your spot(s) by typing TBD in both the first and last name fields. Email me ([email protected]) when you know your participants. Entries will be accepted through Midnight, December 29th. Cancelled registrations after January 2nd and/or no shows will not be refunded unless there is an extenuating circumstance that we are notified of prior to the contest date. 

The entry fee is $20 per student. Each student advancing to the finals will receive an award. Winners in each event will be awarded gift card prizes: 1st place-$50 gift card, 2nd place-$40 gift card, 3rd place-$30 gift card, 4th place-$20 gift card.
