CREATIVE SUMMER WORKSHOPS 2024
Welcome to the 40th year of the Creative
Summer Workshops of the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Public Schools! We are delighted
to provide another five-week program including the SPF Summer Instrumental
Music School.
Developed and conducted by the Scotch
Plains-Fanwood Board of Education, the Creative Summer Workshops have been
designed to offer a variety of enrichment for students. An experienced and
talented professional staff will once again lead progressive, challenging, and
exciting courses in a fun and engaging atmosphere. The program is open for
students who reside in Scotch Plains and Fanwood, as well as surrounding areas.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Creative Summer Workshops will be held
from June 24th to July 26th. Our Instrumental Music program will conclude on July 25th with an evening concert. There will be no
workshops on July 4th and 5th in observance of
Independence Day.
All workshops will operate DAILY between 9AM and 1PM. Workshops will be located at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, located at 667 Westfield Avenue in Scotch Plains, NJ.
Offerings are geared to the age and ability
of our students. Workshop titles bear grade references to those as of September
2024. These grade references should be viewed as guidelines and are not
intended to discriminate against students of other ages who may wish to
participate. Our Instrumental Music program is open to students in grades 4-9 and our classes are available to students in grades K-8 only.
Registration is on a “first come, first
served” basis. Many workshops have limited enrollment and if they are filled
your child will be placed on a waiting list. The Creative Summer Workshop is
open to students from Scotch Plains and Fanwood, as well as all surrounding
communities. Registration is ongoing until classes are filled.
PLEASE NOTE THAT REGISTRATION IS ONLY AVAILABLE ONLINE. PAYMENTS CAN BE MADE ONLINE VIA CREDIT CARD OR PAID BY CHECK IF MAILED TO THE SCOTCH PLAINS-FANWOOD BOARD OF EDUCATION OFFICE WITHIN 7 DAYS OF REGISTERING YOUR CHILD.

See individual workshops for tuition and
material fees. Tuition for classes vary. Students
should report at the appropriate time period and place on the first day of
class. Families will be notified in the event of schedule changes.
Many of the workshops will feature a “Show and Share” session at the high school for families and friends on Thursday, July 25th. Invitations will be sent home in July for this occasion. Our Music School will have an evening performance Thursday, July 25th at 6PM in the high school auditorium. All families enrolled in the CSW are invited to attend with their families.
The Coordinators reserves the right to limit class size and to withdraw or add courses and activities in the interest of all concerned. No participant may switch from one workshop to another once the Creative Summer Workshops have begun unless the Coordinators deem that a participant’s health condition warrants such a change.

PLEASE NOTE THAT REGISTRATION IS ONLY AVAILABLE ONLINE. PAYMENTS CAN BE MADE ONLINE VIA CREDIT CARD OR PAID BY CHECK IF MAILED-IN OR DROPPED OFF TO THE SCOTCH PLAINS-FANWOOD BOARD OF EDUCATION OFFICE WITHIN 4 DAYS OF REGISTERING YOUR CHILD.
Refund requests must be made in writing via email and submitted by June 14th and a $10.00 administrative fee will be deducted from the amount paid for each class. Unfortunately no refunds will be granted once the Workshops have begun.
Please note: Our online registration system, Payschools events charges a flat 3.9% credit card transaction fee PER ORDER TOTAL. Paying by check does not accrue a fee, however, returned checks incur a $50 charge. Everyone that registers is charged a .75 cent processing fee per item/ticket/registration regardless of how you pay.
