Pennsbury Community School Fall 2024 Class Offerings


To register online, please proceed to the Class Offerings listed below. All classes meet for 8 sessions. 


To register by mail or in person, click here for the registration form. Please mail the form and check or money order made payable to Pennsbury Community School, 134 Yardley Avenue, Fallsington PA 19058.  Please indicate the class(es) on your payment. You may also drop your payment off at the address above Monday Through Friday from 8am to 4pm. Registration by mail will be entered in the order in which it is received.

Chess for Fighting Nights by Coach Jared: This class focuses on teaching the rules of chess and how the pieces move, in addition to describing chess using correct terminology. Students learn how chess increases critical thinking and pattern recognition skills and are provided a historical overview of the game. Students learn basic concepts about the three phases of the game of the opening, middlegame, and endgame. Instructional exercises include checkmating patterns, introduction to basic openings, and strategic and tactical goals of the game. By the end of this course, students learn how to play a game of chess and record it using chess notation. Materials are provided, however, feel free to bring your own.

Introduction to Felting: Crafting with Wool: This fun, hands-on course is designed for anyone interested in exploring the versatile and tactile art of felting. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience with fiber arts, this course will guide you through four exciting projects that showcase different felting techniques. Please see example projects below. Over several weeks, you will create beautiful and unique pieces using wool and your creativity. Materials are included.

Sewing with Patterns: In this course you will learn all the basics for understanding how to read and follow a commercially produced sewing pattern. We’ll learn body measurements, terminology, sewing techniques that may be used, and tips for reading and understanding the directions. As we go, we’ll make pajama pants and another pattern of your choice. By the end of the course we hope you will be comfortable enough in your use of sewing patterns to explore and experiment more at home. This course is recommended for those who already have a basic understanding of sewing from either Basic Sewing & Quilting, or another experience.

Ceramics: Discover your inner artist! Learn how to create original ceramic pieces through various hand building techniques including: slab, pinch-pot, and sculptural techniques. Projects can include holiday decoration to fine art; it is your choice! A limited number of pottery wheels will also be available on a rotation basis for the opportunity to learn how to throw pottery. All levels are welcome. Instructor will provide all basic instruction and optional project ideas. Materials are included. Take A Peek At Ceramics!

American Sign Language: Introduces the basic American Sign Language (ASL) skills, focusing on communication in a cultural context. Covers fingerspelling, basic vocabulary and grammatical structures, and the development of visual receptive and gestural expressive skills. Designed for students with little or no previous knowledge of ASL. All levels are welcome to attend!

Pickleball for Beginners - Mondays at Eleanor Roosevelt: Pickleball is a fun and fast paced game that is a combination of badminton, tennis and table tennis. For beginners who want to learn how to play and practice basic skills. Players will learn how to keep score and learn where to stand. This fun, no-pressure class will help you feel comfortable on the court. Bring your own paddles.

Pickleball - Mondays at Afton: For beginners and intermediate players who know how to keep score and know the basic rules. Although these players are still learning the game and practicing their skills, they can play a game of pickleball without hands on instruction. Bring your own paddles.

Country Line Dancing for All Levels: Whether you're a beginner or an experienced dancer, our instructor will guide you through the steps and showcase the dance for everyone to enjoy. Individuals of any skill level can partake in the excitement. Learn basic dance steps: kicking, brushing, vine, jazz box, shuffle, and many others. Learn the popular dances, meet new people, and have fun! Please wear lightweight, smooth-soled casual shoes, preferably not sneakers. Take A Peek At Country Line Dancing!

Tai Chi for All Levels: Tai Chi is a martial art, moving meditation and healthful exercise all rolled into one.  Learn a valuable practice focused on health promotion, well-being and longevity for your mind, body and spirit. Strength Training with Sandy: This is a non-cardio workout using light hand weights designed to work all of your major muscle groups. You can build more strength, coordination and burn calories. Let’s Dance! Zumba with Sandy: Get off the sofa and start moving! This easy to follow Zumba class is designed for beginners to the more experienced dancer. We’ll Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia… and more. Come dance like no one is watching! Let’s appreciate our own style of dancing without judgements and have fun! You will need sneakers, a towel and a water bottle. Take A Peak At Zumba!

Gentle Yoga with June: A slower approach to Yoga with poses broken down into easy, accessible movements. Students are taught to modify poses to stay within safe limitations. Perfect for people new to Yoga or anyone experiencing overall stiffness due to lack of activity or other physical limitations. This exercise will leave you energized and deeply relaxed.
