Dear Parents,

It is time to start preparations for our trip to Mammoth Cave, May 15-17, 2024. The trip is an amazing opportunity for our students. It brings the content we have learned all year to life and is beneficial for EVERY student! For that reason I wanted to take a moment and explain a few things to you and your child.

I am estimating the trip to cost students $340.00; the final amount is hard to predict at this time with inflation and will be unknown until all reservations and final count of travelers have been determined. A few fundraisers will be offered throughout the year. I do not want financial situations to restrict any student from attending, therefore please take advantage of the fundraisers.

If your student is interested in attending the trip please send in the minimum first $70.00 payment to reserve your child’s place on our trip. This is necessary to make plans and reservations. Included with this letter is your payment plan for the remainder of the balance. The last payment will be due on February 7, 2023. The fundraising will be deducted from the total amount owed but all travelers are responsible for the initial $70.00 payment. Thank you for understanding that prompt payments are crucial for the organization of this trip. It is fully funded by the people going on the trip and no money comes from the district.

If your student decides not to attend you will not be reimbursed any money that has already been spent on tickets, hotel, bus or any other trip accommodation. You are responsible for your portion of the trip. Please understand you may not be reimbursed the amount you have paid up until the date of cancellation. In some cases, you may owe a balance for what has already been purchased. After your financial responsibilities have been taken care of you will be reimbursed any overpayment.

Parents are invited to come and experience the trip!! The adult trip cost is estimated at $420.00 this year.  There are fingerprinting requirements for any adult wanting to join the trip (information on following page). We will have a parent meeting to cover all information regarding the trip, time and date TBD. 

This trip depends on responsible decisions by all students to be successful, therefore, behavior will be watched throughout the year and I have the responsibility to deny participation on the trip to ensure this is a safe and enjoyable experience for all. I am positive we should have no problems but want to make you aware that this trip can be denied if your child chooses not to obey school rules.

Parents and Chaperones,

Our trip will be here before we know it! According to school policy and ORC, all parents attending school sponsored trips and events must have a valid and up-to-date BCI/FBI fingerprinting and background check.

The results of the background check must be sent to and on file with the New London Board of Education offices by May 1st. You can have the result sent to any other addresses of your choice. I would suggest having a copy sent to your home address and the Board of Education Office.  It would be best to bring a copy to the BOE to ensure they have received a copy.

This can take up to two months or more for results. Please complete and turn in ahead of time. Without  BCI/FBI results on file, you will not be able to attend the trip.
